The following advisory bodies are involved in the work on the North Sea.

Advisory Committee on Water

The task of the Advisory Committee on Water (Adviescommissie Water) is to advise the State Secretary of Transport, Public Works and Water Management on the implementation of the established water policy and its financial and social consequences.

Advisory Committee on Water Legislation

The task of the Advisory Committee on Water Legislation (Commissie van Advies inzake de Waterstaatswetgeving) is to advise the government and both Houses of Parliament on the content and structure of the legislation in the field of flood prevention and water resources management. The Committee was established in January 2001 as the successor to the State Commission for Water Legislation, which had been established in 1892. It finds its legal basis in the Public Works Act of 1900.

Committee for Environmental Impact Assessment

Since 1987, the Committee for Environmental Impact Assessment (Commissie voor de milieueffectrapportage) plays a role as an independent consultant in environmental impact reporting. The Committee advises the authorities responsible for the ultimate decisions: the competent authorities. The Committee monitors the legal requirements for EIA and the quality of the information on which the administrators base their decisions.

National Ports Council

The National Ports Council (Nationale Havenraad, NHR) is the consultative body of the Dutch seaports, the central government and the interest groups of businesses in the port sector. The Council advises on issues of importance to the Dutch seaports.

Council for the Environment and Infrastructure

The Council for the Environment and Infrastructure (Raad voor de leefomgeving en infrastructuur, Rli) is the strategic advisory body for the government and Parliament in the broad field of the physical living environment.
The Council is independent and provides solicited and unsolicited advice on the outlines of the policy for the sustainable development of the living environment and infrastructure. Rli operates on the (physical) policies domains of the Ministries of Infrastructure and the Environment, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations.

Council for Spatial, Environmental and Nature Research

The Council for Spatial, Environmental and Nature Research (Raad voor Ruimtelijk, Milieu- en Natuuronderzoek, RMNO) is a sector council that advises the government on research policy in the field of spatial planning, environment, nature and landscape.
