The following advisory bodies are involved in the work on the North Sea.

Committee for Environmental Impact Assessment

Since 1987, the Committee for Environmental Impact Assessment (Commissie voor de milieueffectrapportage) plays a role as an independent consultant in environmental impact reporting. The Committee advises the authorities responsible for the ultimate decisions: the competent authorities. The Committee monitors the legal requirements for EIA and the quality of the information on which the administrators base their decisions.

Council for the Environment and Infrastructure

The Council for the Environment and Infrastructure (Raad voor de leefomgeving en infrastructuur, Rli) is the strategic advisory body for the government and Parliament in the broad field of the physical living environment.
The Council is independent and provides solicited and unsolicited advice on the outlines of the policy for the sustainable development of the living environment and infrastructure. Rli operates on the (physical) policies domains of the Ministries of Water Management and the Environment and Climate Policy,  Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality and the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations.

Council for Spatial, Environmental and Nature Research

The Council for Spatial, Environmental and Nature Research (Raad voor Ruimtelijk, Milieu- en Natuuronderzoek, RMNO) is a sector council that advises the government on research policy in the field of spatial planning, environment, nature and landscape.
