North Sea Policy in the National Water Plan

The National Water Plan is the Government’s plan for water policy for the period 2016 – 2021. The National Water Plan describes the measures that must be taken to keep the Netherlands safe and habitable for current and future generations and to make the most of the opportunities that water has to offer. The National Water Plan includes the integrated North Sea policy. The North Sea policy specifies the general frameworks for (spatial) harmonisation between the users of the sea and also in relation to the marine ecosystem.

The NWP is accompanied by the North Sea Policy Document. The policy document provides a detailed substantiation and elaboration of the policy choices in the NWP. The North Sea Policy Document can be read as a standalone document, although it is actually an integral part of the NWP.
