In October this year, companies can compete for the permit for the construction and operation of a new wind farm in the North Sea. For Nederwiek Wind Farm Site I-A, the tender criteria have been adjusted to improve the business case for offshore wind. The Ministry of Climate Policy and Green Growth is taking these measures to make the upcoming tender round more attractive and to allow the construction of offshore wind farms to proceed at a realistic pace.

An integral, ministerial meeting was held in Antwerp on 25 November as part of the Greater North Sea Basin Initiative (GNSBI). Ministers and/or high-level representatives of the nine North Sea countries responsible for maritime spatial planning, fisheries, nature and energy gathered with the aim of signing the Ministerial Declaration, thus strengthening their mutual cooperation..
The next permit round for new offshore wind farms will take place in September 2025. Wind farm developers can earn points in their applications by showing how they take nature and the onshore energy system into account. This is outlined in the draft Ministerial Orders (regulations) published on 21 November 2024. The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) coordinates the permit tender procedure.
